Slap Wacky! Named Winner of a Parents' Choice Award
After being thoroughly evaluated by Parents’ Choice Foundation’s panel
of educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents and
kids, Morning Star Games’ new card game, Slap Wacky!, was named as a
winner of the Parents’ Choice Fun Stuff Award.
“We are very excited about this honor,” says the game’s creator
and Morning Star Games President Allen Wolf. “Slap Wacky has been
catching on with kids and families across the nation. It’s great
that the Parents’ Choice Foundation has recognized how amazingly fun
this game is.”
The Parents’ Choice Foundation is the nation's oldest nonprofit guide
to quality children's media and toys. The Foundation’s purpose is to
search out and recommend fun, safe and socially sound products
that help kids grow – imaginatively, physically, morally and
mentally. Parents’ Choice Foundation strives to provide parents
with reliable, unbiased information about tools to help their children
learn, explore new challenges, discuss ideas and pursue dreams.
Slap Wacky! was chosen from among hundreds of games submitted to the
foundation. Only three other games were awarded the Parents’
Choice Fun Stuff Award.
To play Slap Wacky!, players compete to connect the most shape patterns
with their cards. The player who completes a pattern slaps it and
takes the cards for the points. Six different patterns can be
created at a time and players use block cards to slow others from
completing shapes. When the cards run out, players count the
points from their cards and the player with the highest points
wins. At the recent Mensa Mind Games competition, judges noted
that Slap Wacky is “a fun game that evokes speed and challenge and is
enjoyable for numerous rounds of play. The bright colors and
unique patterns are engaging.”
Slap Wacky! has won multiple awards including the 100 Best Children’s
Products by Dr. Toy, iParenting Media Award, Seal of Excellence Award
from Creative Child, the Adding Wisdom Award and The National Parenting
Center Seal of Approval. An iParenting Media Awards Reviewer
calls Slap Wacky! “fun and wacky. It encourages group play and
family interaction which is a lot of fun and very important in this day
and age. This game allowed our children and us to interact with
one another and we had a very enjoyable time together playing it.”
Wolf got the idea for Slap Wacky! while preparing for his annual game
night. “I created the test version of the cards to play it with
my good friends. It was immediately a hit. You can play a
game in under 5 minutes so we found ourselves playing it over and over
to see who would win.”
